Overview
This project is a fictional ad campaign for a special event held in Los Angeles called "Make a Face" a convention for illustrators featuring a dedicated exhibition. The campaign is designed to highlight some of my original hand-drawn illustrations created with brush and ink, which I then integrated into a cohesive digital design. The goal was to blend traditional and modern techniques in a way that captures the expressive, creative spirit of the event. I envision this campaign being displayed across various signage formats, including bus shelters and both horizontal and vertical billboards throughout the city.

Sketches

These hand-drawn illustrations were created using brush and ink, allowing me to freely explore abstract characters in a playful, expressive way. I drew inspiration from the styles of the 1950s and 60s, giving the characters a vintage flair that adds charm and personality. The illustrations help reinforce the campaign’s focus on illustration as an art form, while also infusing it with a sense of fun and creativity. Their whimsical nature brings energy to the overall design and captures the imaginative spirit of the event.
Typography & Color

For the "Make a Face" convention, I chose Chantal Medium as the primary typeface for its playful, expressive style that instantly sets a fun, engaging tone. To balance this, I paired it with clean sans-serifs like Adrianna Extended and Arboria Book for clarity and contrast. The bold, saturated color palette enhances visibility and reflects the event's creative, energetic spirit—inviting curiosity, joy, and self-expression. Together, the typography and color create a lively, memorable visual identity.
