Overview
The goal of this project was to re-imagine an existing brand. I chose to re-design Rishi Tea & Botanicals, a premium boxed tea company known for its high-quality, organic blends. My re-design retains the essence of the original brand by incorporating the existing logo and key elements of the original packaging, while presenting a refreshed, bright, geometric, and modern visual identity.

Styleboard
This style board presents my rebranding concept for RISHI Tea & Botanicals, a handcrafted artisanal tea with a modern approach. I intended for the new design to expand on their brand by introducing a color palette of blue, green, and white. Green symbolizing freshness and naturalness, blue conveying tranquility, and white serving as a neutral. The layout balances positive and negative space for a clean, organized look. Illustrated line drawings of teacups quickly identify the product and add ornate brand elements. The typography is simple and sans-serif to maintain readability and modernity without overpowering the logo.
Sketches & Digitized Front Designs
My sketches and digitized front designs are inspired by the brand's Asian origins. I wanted the visuals to evoke a sense of zen, reflecting the peaceful environment where the tea is cultivated. To reinforce this connection, I incorporated natural elements like bamboo and themes of environmental awareness. At the same time, I made sure the packaging design is bold and enticing, striking a balance between subtlety and a strong shelf presence.
Color Palette
For the color palettes, I aimed for a bold and distinctive look, with each box reflecting its unique flavor to help consumers quickly identify and connect with their choice in-store. It's important that each palette stands out not only from other flavors within the brand but also from competing products on the shelf. Strong, memorable colors enhance customer interaction by catching the eye and making the selection process easier and more intuitive.
Font Choice & Brand Specifics
For the font choice, I wanted to stay true to the original RISHI Tea & Botanicals packaging by using the
Aesthet Nova font. At the same time, I aimed to add a modern twist by incorporating clean,
readable, and minimal sans-serif fonts such as Josefin Sans. Additionally, I was asked to retain the
original logo and some design elements. I believe my rendition, combined with aspects of the
original, creates an interesting and fresh take.
